Become a Volunteer

For reminiscing and heritage, Monifieth seems to be on the international map, thanks to the House of Memories. Visitor figures reveal that many overseas visitors are interested in the displays and information on offer within it’s walls.

It has been described as being “a tourist attraction” and recently was added to the list of places mentioned on the Angus Tourist Trail brochure.
Managed and financed by Monifieth Local History Society, whose volunteers keep it open free of charge daily, it is very much a Community project. The support and encouragement given by the local residents keeps the project viable. However, with success comes an increase in the workload
The House of Memories is totally dependent on the commitment of those volunteers who daily “open up” the premises at 55 High Street, Monifieth. Believe it or not they appear to enjoy not only being able to provide a service for the community, they enjoy meeting interesting people who visit daily. Friendships have developed within the group. If you have two hours per week to spare, then why not come along to ‘55’. You might even find the talks & trips interesting. You can bring along a friend. There are no special skills required so why not ‘get round to it.
