The funeral sevice of Mrs Copland ( 1936 -2021) took place yesterday (11/1/22) at Parkgrove Crematorium..
The service was very well attended with a piper in full regalia playing before & after.
Maggie was the person who answered the many who wrote to the website asking for information regarding Monifieth or distant relatives. Her last reply was on 22nd December to Brian Matheson MBE Who asked “ I would like to make contact with any of your membership who have an interest in Monifieth and Barry Links. Specifically, on early golf prior to the founding of what is now known as the Barry Panmure Golf Club”.
A typical request was :-
“I am researching my family and have some family from Monifieth who I’d like to find out about …..their life and where they lived and worked and what kind of people they were?”
James Bell b 8 july 1801, lived in Dundas St and King St (Broughty Ferry?). Married to Isabella Mathew/bathie/mathison.
Owned a rope making factory and was a grocer and spirit merchant. (1850 directory and census records)
“Can you let me know if you have anything online, or if there are resources I can look through in person?”
