The first half of 2014 has been a busy time for the MLHS members. We have participated in local and national events. Continued to serve the community by keeping the doors of 55 High Street known as the House of Memories, open daily free of charge to the public. We are most grateful to Angus Council for their financial support in the form of the second phase of an approved grant of £5000. However, we still manage to find time to organise and manage fund raising events towards financing the House of Memories, which from visitor numbers would appear to be a tourist attraction. Our very popular website has much interest from overseas visitors and has already prompted indiviuals to visit Monifieth.
Our talks programme is now attracting many non members to the meetings in the Community cabin, with some eventually taking up membership.
In what is now the eleventh year of being ‘on the High Street’, we felt that the frontage of the building required a facelift. The local residents comments about the ‘new look’ are most encouraging.
In short what appears to be a big all round success story, however, we do need volunteers to come forward and give a commitment of two hours per week of their time to keep the project alive and sustainable. We have already heard so many times from visitors ” Wish we had something like this where we come from”. You can help us keep our special place by giving a little of your time. You might even enjoy joining in what we do?
